October 17, 2018, PORTLAND, OR–Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare will begin offering services aimed at addressing the thinking patterns and attitudes that drive criminal behavior to individuals currently under federal supervision in Multnomah and Clackamas counties.
Cascadia will develop an array of specialized substance abuse and mental health services and groups for these clients as part of a new agreement with the U.S. Probation Office and U.S. Pre-Trial Services for the District of Oregon.
“We look forward to providing new recovery opportunities for justice-involved individuals that will result in greater stability, reduced recidivism and an enhanced quality of life,” said Laura Cohen, Cascadia’s Senior Director of Community Support Services.
In addition to individual therapy, U.S. Probation Office and Pre-Trial Services clients may be referred to cognitive behavior therapy groups, such as Moral Reconation Therapy and A New Direction, as well as other curriculum-based group programs specifically for adults involved with the justice system.
Cascadia has a long history of working with clients who are justice involved. In addition to the nonprofit’s two prison-based Turning Point programs, FACT and two Department of Community Justice programs, Cascadia has served a number of U.S. Probation Office clients through Recovery Services and Addiction & Detoxification Integrated Services.
Cascadia’s new federal contract expands the eligibility of U.S. Probation Office clients to receive treatment.
